High-Efficiency Cogeneration Plant Development
Service Category: Clean Energy Technology Development
Market Sector:Industrials/Manufacturing/Commercial
Region: United States/Canada
Key Objective
An energy-intensive industrial facility was interested in leveraging its site and steam load to host a clean and highly-efficient natural gas-fired cogeneration facility.
Our role in project
Pace Global was retained by a leading paper company client as Development Advisor to provide technical, market, and commercial support in the development of a natural gas-fired cogeneration facility at a paper mill in Alberta, Canada. Pace Global’s support began by evaluating partnership options, including development partners, project structures, cogeneration configurations, and pricing terms. Pace Global prepared detailed technical, economic, and commercial evaluation of the options; solicited and evaluated third-party developer proposals; provided projections of cost and energy savings to the mill across options and scenarios; and made recommendations accordingly. Pace Global advised the client throughout negotiations with the selected third-party developer, including on all Project Agreements including the Joint Development Agreement, Energy Sales Agreement, Land Lease, and Shared Services Agreement. Pace Global remained engaged in the Project through successful commissioning.
Results
Our client received guidance on all aspects of the project, from project conception, through project definition, partnering, negotiations and commercial operations, ensuring an attractive value proposition for them as host and energy offtaker from a highly efficient gas-fired cogeneration plant. The project has been in operation for several years and continues to provide significant value to the host paper mill.
