Energy Asset Management
Pace Global performs commercial asset management for independent generating stations, industrial on-site resources and diverse load serving portfolios. Pace Global’s core differentiator is our ability to bring to bear and integrate the necessary commercial, fuel, power, technical, and risk management skills to meet the unique and dynamic needs our clients.
We do so in a highly cost effective manner and align ourselves with our client’s business objectives. We are entirely independent and sit firmly on the same side of table with our clients. We focus on reducing costs and risks, assuring regulatory compliance, improving operational performance, enhancing quality control, and increasing value for our clients through strategy development and performance optimization within the parameters of the regional energy markets. Through optimization and management of generation assets as well as fuel (including extensive capabilities in natural gas, oil, coal, biomass, alternative fuels), power and transmission systems, Pace maximizes the value of our clients energy assets both physical and contractual.
Pace Global’s energy experts and energy operations center in Columbia, SC are equipped to provide around the clock support and is an essential element of our asset management capability ensuring clear communication and minimal exposure to unplanned outages. Pace Global’s partnership with NAES Corporation, a leading global operations & maintenance (O&M) provider, allows us to provide a complete asset management capability from plant O&M through market value optimization.
Our Energy Asset Management services cover a broad domain of value-added and value-creation activities, including Energy Load Management, Energy Generation Management and Energy Risk Management.
Load Management
Load projection error creates unnecessary cost
Accurate load projections allow suppliers, transporters and ISO operators to properly plan for your usage, which means lower risk premiums and real-time balancing costs. Pace Global monitors usage patterns and maintain regression and other stochastic models aimed at understanding what influences your load and how those influences can be used to predict next day requirements. Pace Global can also communicate your requirements to your providers to ensure your contractual obligations are upheld and the cost of balancing energy in real time is minimized.
Generation Management
Generate power and powerful returns
If you own and control a generating asset or portfolio of assets, Pace Global can help you maximize their commercial performance and gross margins. By determining the commercial characteristics of the asset, understanding the return expectations and applying deep market knowledge and insight, Pace Global can dispatch, optimize and administer the business of running the asset within the context of an industrial operation or in a merchant capacity.
Pace Global will also develop a strategic plan for the asset, even assisting in conceptualizing its value and assisting or managing in the development process. With commercial operating procedures prepared to document the tactical requirements, the asset will be more than generation hardware; it will be a thriving micro-business designed to reach goals established at the outset and provide stable gross margin returns.
Risk Management
Markets are risky and assets performing in multiple markets are downright confusing
Power generation assets operate in two equally confusing and volatile markets, which compounds the complexity of managing them and mitigating their exposure to risk. Pace Global can evaluate the risk profile of a generating asset and provide a clear strategy and execution plan for controlling the risk. Since generation assets are essentially a fixed heat rate investment, managing the price spread between fuel inputs and power outputs on a forward basis is critical to controlling exposure and maximizing returns.
Additionally, generation assets today are subject to a number of regulatory and environmental initiatives and regulations. Pace Global can evaluate these risks, quantify them and incorporate them into the overall strategy and tactical plans.
