Feasibility & Sustainability Study for Biomass

Clien Need
Client Need:
A Caribbean utility burning costly fuel oil for power generation was interesting in fuel switching opportunities that would result in economic and environmental efficiencies.

Our Role
Our Role:
Pace Global developed a detailed evaluation of the economic feasibility study of supplying imported biomass in the form of wood pellets or chips versus sourcing biomass feedstock for a Caribbean nation. The engagement entailed developing a cost-of-generation analysis, evaluating logistical and other costs related to importing or locally sourcing biomass crops, performing a generation technology assessment, and developing delivered price forecasts in order to determine whether biomass would be an economical and sustainable solution to replace diesel as feedstock in the island’s power generation facilities.

The client has proceeded to more detailed analysis to determine the long-term economic feasibility of utilizing biomass given recent trends in commodity prices.
