Pace Global

Long-Term Fuel Supply to the Caribbean

Clien Need
Client Need:
A leading international alumina and chemical company was seeking to displace the heavy fuel oil burned at its Jamaican refinery with more efficient technology and a cheaper fuel source.

Our Role
Our Role:
Pace Global has a longstanding relationship with the client, having recently managed the market outreach and bidder solicitation and selection process for the refinery’s long-term energy solution to replace the use of heavy fuel oil in its existing steam boilers. Pace Global evaluated both coal and gas-fired technology solutions and determined that the use of modern coal-fired technology would provide the most long-term benefit to the facility. Given the considerable lead time with this type of project, Pace Global also developed an interim energy solution with a 17 MW diesel generator set fired with heavy fuel oil to provide short-term cost reduction and long-term grid reliability. More recently, Pace Global has been working with the client to analyze additional proposals for alternative energy solutions and benchmark those against proposals previously received.
